Malibu Kevin PROTOTYPE Mask - In Stock
Please read entire listing before purchasing!
This is a listing for a One of a Kind Malibu Kevin Prototype Mask.
What is a prototype?
This mask is part of an experimental process to see if new techniques can work. So this mask isn’t the finished iteration, but one that is a cumulation of experiments. In this case, the finished Kevins will be larger, there will be some tweaks to the hair, and the zipper placement will be different. There are some minor latex bumps on the interior due to the new casting process I was experimenting with, but nothing uncomfortable.
This mask is made from Black Lagoon Latex. This is a high quality latex, but it will still trigger a reaction if you are allergic to latex.
This piece will comfortably fit heads up to 21” in circumference. I’m wearing it in the modeled pictures. I have a 23.5” head and the mask sits uncomfortably close to my eyes. While someone with up to a 22” head might be able able to make it work with some tweaks, I would feel uncomfortably recommending that size.
Vision is through cut holes in the tear duct, and holes along the upperside of the eyeball. Nostrils and holes on the edges of the mouth are cut out to give ventilation.
Caring for your Latex Mask:
Latex is a natural rubber. It will break down eventually, however, if treated properly, this piece will give you years of wear.
Handle gently. While I’ve made every attempt to make this piece as sturdy as possible, it will tear if stretched beyond its capabilities
Store in a temperature controlled environment away from sunlight. Sunlight will cause latex to yellow and break down faster.
Store mask in its proper shape by placing it on a mannequin or with plastic bags inside. If mask becomes deformed, gently heat with a hair dryer on low and reshape into its proper form
Mask can be cleaned with a damp, soft towel. Do not use any solvents or cleaners as they may strip the paint. Clean with a light blotting motion. DO NOT SCRUB
Dust can be removed with an air duster
Mask can be trimmed with a scissors to allow for a better fit or more natural look on the wearer. If trimming, round off any edges. If you need to cut a slit on an overhead mask, use a hole punch at the end of the slit to prevent the mask from tearing.
If the paint gets damaged, it can be touched up with Acrylics
Novelty Use Only. Not for use with children.
Pieces will ship in a box with packing material stuffed in the inside of the mask. This should prevent any major deformations. However, you may need to heat up this piece with a hair dryer in order to get it to snap back to its proper shape after shipping. The box size for this mask is to allow the mask to be shipped without folding it.
Masks are non-returnable, due to their personal nature. Please reach out to me with any questions micah@micahebbe.com
